Study Methods

Coaching study with CILC
People like to learn in different ways. So we make sure that everyone has a chance to learn in their preferred styles, whenever possible. Many people work better at home by reading, others like to watch or listen, some need to ‘do’ but most enjoy the inspiration of live training days.

The following are elements of all our Diploma courses:
• Live training with instructors who are successfull coaches
• Published course manuals and many have CDs and DVDs
• Ongoing assessment during peer coaching practice sessions and in some cases portfolio evidence. This is to give you practical skills throughout your growth as a coach

CILC does not believe you can learn to be a coach just from reading a home study manual or book. You need face-to-face tutoring and ‘getting your hands dirty’ by taking part in real coaching practice sessions.
We are serious about training coaches, are you serious about being trained properly?

Training materials and working at home
Soon after your registration we will dispatch your training materials by Recorded Delivery. Unlike many other trainers we do not post your manuals, CD’s and DVD’s to you in advance, you get them on the first day. Why? CILC courses do not require you to complete anything before you arrive – we prefer a ‘blank slate’ to write on. You will have plenty to do once the course has started.

Some students worry about being able to fit in all the home study work especially if they are full-time employed. Every one so far has had no trouble doing it. We often have people taking more than one diploma course at the same time.

Depending on the course you are taking you may have to be available for personal coaching/mentoring sessions at fixed times – these must be adhered to. They can be changed by mutual agreement and with 2 days notice.
